India’s tour of England in 2002 was a series to remember for every Indian fan. The sight of Ganguly’s iconic celebration at Lord’s is still fresh in the mind of every Indian fan. The Men in Blue delivered a stellar performance against the Three Lions and scripted history to win the Natwest series before drawing the Test series.

One of the most enthralling run chases in Indian cricket got unfolded when the Sourav Ganguly-led side hunted down the target of 326 runs in the Natwest final. Yuvraj Singh (69) and Mohammad Kaif (87) emerged as the architects of India’s triumph and chased down the target with three balls to spare. What followed was Ganguly unfurling his shirt at the balcony of Lord’s.

Reminiscing those times, Yuvraj Singh, on Sunday, took it to Instagram and shared a throwback picture from that series. The picture featured former India cricketers like Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, VVS Laxman and Mohammad Kaif. The picture, in no time, was flooded with comments as fans remembered India’s historic performance in the series.

Former Indian captain and current president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Sourav Ganguly reacted to the picture and reminisced the golden memories.

Many youngsters including Yuvraj paved their way into the national side under Ganguly’s captaincy. Yuvraj’s career flourished when Ganguly was at the helm and the two spend a lot of years together in the dressing room. Ganguly was known for backing youngsters like Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Mohammad Kaif and Virender Sehwag, who eventually emerged as match-winners for India.

Yuvraj, after being sidelined from the national side for quite a while, announced his retirement last year. His heroics against Stuart Broad in T20 World Cup 2007 is still etched in the heart of every Indian fan. Regarded as one of the finest all-rounders to don the Indian jersey, Yuvraj played 40 Tests, 304 ODIs and 58 T20Is in his career, gathering over 11,000 runs and picking up 148 wickets across all three formats.
