Jemimah Rodrigues picks her all-time IPL XI; chooses five foreigners in the team
She named MS Dhoni as the skipper of her side.
Jemimah Rodrigues has been the shining light of the India Women’s team on and off the field. Having made her international debut at an early age of 18, she has played 16 ODIs and 44 T20Is already and was also the part of the team that reached the final of the T20 World Cup earlier this year. Like many, Jemimah has also been stuck at home during the pandemic but has been entertaining her fans with her frequent social media appearances.
Along with her India teammate Smriti Mandhana, she has also been hosting the show Double Trouble chatting with a lot of athletes across the country. The 19-year-old has also been going live on Instagram frequently chatting with the media houses or her teammates.
During a Super Over podcast with JP Duminy and Liam Flint in March, Jemimah Rodrigues was told to pick her all-time XI of the Indian Premier League (IPL). And the top three of her team had the captains of top franchises. She picked Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain David Warner to open the innings. Virat Kohli, who is the undisputed leader of the RCB, was the number three batsman of her XI.
Jemimah Rodrigues picked four all-rounders in her team
AB de Villiers, the IPL legend, was the next player in her XI. He has been playing for the RCB over the years now and has been an integral part of the team along with Kohli. Interestingly, the Mumbai cricketer picked four quality all-rounders to make up her strong XI. Jemimah Rodrigues wanted Andre Russell to bat at five with Ben Stokes following him.
Mohammad Nabi and Ravindra Jadeja are the other all-rounders she chose both of whom are impeccable spinners and can finish the game with the bat whenever needed. Not surprisingly, she named MS Dhoni as the captain of her team. The veteran has led the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) into the knockouts/playoffs in all the seasons the franchise has played.
Rashid Khan was the other spinner in her team and Mumbai Indians’ top pacer Jasprit Bumrah wrapped up her extremely strong side. With four all-rounders, Jemimah Rodrigues took care of more bowling options and the team also has a batting depth with Jadeja coming in at nine. However, she picked five foreign players in the side whereas only four overseas cricketers are allowed in an XI in the IPL.
Jemimah Rodrigues’ all-time IPL XI: Rohit Sharma, David Warner, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Andre Russell, Ben Stokes, MS Dhoni (C & WK), Mohammad Nabi, Ravindra Jadeja, Rashid Khan, Jasprit Bumrah.
