Jonny Bairstow and Anya Shrubsole will join Brian Lara's Cowdrey Lecture

The MCC has recently announced that England wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow and ICC Women’s World Cup winner Anya Shrubsole will be joining the post-Lecture panel discussion at Brian Lara’s 2017 MCC Spirit of  Cricket Cowdrey Lecture next Monday. The event will be hosted by Mark Nicholas, the question and answer session will include discussion of topics arising from the address, along with a range of other current cricketing issues, and will take place in front of a sold-out audience in the Nursery Pavilion at Lord’s.

The fans can witness the event by streaming on the official Lords youtube channel. Bairstow has been a vital cog in the England line up. He is currently taking part in the Test series between England and West Indies. The series is leveled at 1-1, with the third and final Test match at Lords, starting from Thursday 7th September. Bairstow made his debut against West Indies at Lords and went on to play some important knocks, and his presence will be vital when his side will take on Australia in the upcoming Ashes.

Reputed names line up for the event

Shrubsole’s match winning spell of 5/11 in 19 deliveries turned the table in England’s favor during the world cup final match against India at Lords earlier this year. India were in the driving seat and at one point it seemed that they will lift the cup but the chase received a major blow and England went on to win the match by nine runs. Former West Indies captain Brian Lara is regarded as one of the finest batsmen of all time, and he will be the second cricketer to deliver the lecture from the Caribbean island after Clive Lloyd in 2004.

Lara, an Honorary Life Member of MCC, played in 131 Test matches and 299 One-Day Internationals for West Indies. He holds the record for the highest Test score in international cricket- 400 not out against England in the year 2004.
