Indian Premier League 2020 future is uncertain as far as the current situation is concerned. Every cricket fan is waiting for the decision of BCCI that is expected to be taken in the upcoming days.  IPL came into existence back in 2008 and the tournament has turned into one of the biggest in cricket industry.

The cash-rich league went through lots of obstacles in the last 12 seasons. But, there came no point when it got cancelled or postponed due to any reason whatsoever. However, this time the probability of it getting cancelled is quite high due to the increasing threat of Covid-19. And, the transmission of the deadly virus is going to be the foremost reason behind it.

‘IPL is such a massive tournament’: Jos Buttler

It will be a big upset for the players that were going to take part in IPL as well as for the fans, who were eagerly waiting for the cricketing extravaganza to unfold. Now, in an interview, Jos Buttler, the wicketkeeper-batsman said that there is no recent update on IPL 2020.

Majority of the players know that it will get postponed and there is no possibility of shifting it to the future. He also added the fact that it is a huge event and hence, he has suggested the authorities to organize the shorter version of the cash-rich league.

“No news at the moment. We saw, initially, that it was going to be postponed. It’s very hard to see this changing in the immediate future, so I don’t see that as a possibility at the moment. Obviously, it’s such a massive tournament for world cricket, so hopefully, some of it can go ahead — perhaps a shortened tournament,” Buttler said in a Skysports podcast.

Buttler was scheduled to play for Rajasthan Royals with the likes of Steve Smith, Ben Stokes in IPL 2020. But, due to the Coronavirus outbreak, BCCI postponed it to mid-April. The right-handed batsman is an exciting player who has mustered 1386 runs in 45 IPL matches with the help of nine fifties. He has earlier plied his trade for Mumbai Indians, who are four-time IPL winners.
