Jos Buttler is surely following MS Dhoni closely to improve his wicket-keeping in the shorter formats of the game. He has time and again termed the veteran as his idol and the crowd at Headingley witnessed an example of the same. One of the best limited-overs batsmen for England currently, stopped a late dab from Virat Kohli just like how Dhoni does it and Twitterati is hailing him for the same.

Buttler’s admiration for Dhoni was revealed when he won the game single-handedly for his team in the fifth ODI against Australia. The hosts were down and out at 114/8 while chasing a total of 206 runs. But he played a sensational knock of 110 runs and England won the match by 1 wicket. During the post-match presentation, he went on to say that he just thought what MS Dhoni would do in such situations and batted accordingly.

Peculiar incident

The interesting incident took place in the 14th over of India’s innings. Kohli played a late dab towards the third man off Moeen Ali‘s second delivery. But Jos Buttler stuck his right leg out and saved a certain boundary. Moreover, it would’ve been a freakish dismissal had the ball carried to the short third man.

The Indian captain smiled looking at Buttler after taking a single and no wonder he understood that England cricketer had taken a cue from none other than MS Dhoni. Very rarely does an on-field incident stays away from Twitterati as they spotted Buttler’s actions immediately. They loved the way he emulated India’s successful wicketkeeper and hailed him for the same.

As an Indian fan, it must be satisfying for many that an overseas cricketer is trying to follow a legend like MS Dhoni. Buttler is also doing extremely well nowadays and emerging as one of the best behind the wickets in the modern cricket.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to the freakish incident:
