India has been struggling big time in their T20 WC campaign so far with two back-to-back losses against Pakistan and New Zealand. The team has been receiving criticism from all the quarters of the world and former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria is the new entry to the list. Kaneria slammed the men in blue for their below-average performance and also spoke a few words on Hardik Pandya’s fitness and form.
Kaneria believes that India doesn’t have wicket-taking options in their lot whereas Pandya is also not able to bring any magic on the field. He believes that half-fit Pandya is no of no use to the team as he is lacking in both departments. Moreover, India bowled him against New Zealand just to show the world that he can roll his arm while he didn’t get any success.
The former spinner questioned as to why team management didn’t go for T20 special bowler Yuzvendra Chahal who even displayed great form in IPL 2021. Even Rahul Chahar is warming benches and these facts didn’t go well with Kaneria. India remained wicketless against the men in green while Bumrah got successful twice against Kane Williamson and his men.
India should have kept Yuzvendra Chahal for T20 WC: Danish Kaneria
“When you play bits and pieces kind of player like Hardik Pandya, then you won’t get anything out of him. Just to show the world, you bowled him a few overs. You excluded Yuzvendra Chahal from the squad. Rahul Chahar is sitting on the bench. Are you going to make him sell eggs from the bench?” said Kaneria on his YouTube show.
“If you see every team in the World Cup, the likes of Wanindu Hasaranga, Adil Rashid, Rashid Khan, Shadab Khan – there are countless leg-spinners performing at every venue. Even yesterday, Hasaranga picked three wickets against England and leggies are picking up scalps. But if Rahul Chahar doesn’t inspire confidence, you should have kept Chahal,” he added.
India is all set to play its next game against Afghanistan on November 03, 2021, in Abu Dhabi.
