'Just your participation means that you are among the best' - Yuvraj Singh lauds Indian contingent at Tokyo 2020

Yuvraj Singh also announced that all the 120 athletes participating in the Tokyo Olympics will be given free healthcare checkups.

In India, cricket rules the human imagination. The sport is highly followed around the nation but it is also a fact that other sports in the country are getting into the limelight with the sheer flair that the athletes have been exuding. Being a part of a mega event like that of the Olympics is a moment of extreme pride for any player. Considering the audacity of it, the former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has extended his appreciations to the Indian athletes in the Olympics.

Olympics which is considered as one of the most difficult carnivals of sports is a platform where undoubtedly the best athletes of the world walk in. Stacking against all odds and representing the country in the Olympics is a big achievement. The cricketing fraternity along with many around the country have been cheering for the Indian contingent at the Olympics. Yuvraj Singh thus praised the participants stating that they are amongst the best and pinned hopes on having more sportspeople who can bring laurels to the country.

“India needs more sportspeople to put us on the world map with mega wins and participate in international sporting events such as Olympics, which is considered the pinnacle for sports. Just your participation means that you are among the best, and such people deserve every acclaim, honor, and endowment.” Singh said as reported by Hindustan Times.

For different sports to develop in the nation, it becomes important that grass-root level efforts are undertaken to spot and groom talent. With the help of a good system in place, the athletes can make most of it and shine at the highest level. With the view of providing the best help to the athletes, Yuvraj Singh announced that all the 120 athletes participating in the Tokyo Olympics will be given free healthcare checkups and the winners will receive 10 years of free health test service. This initiative is however backed by the health test at home service provider Healthians.

“With an objective to inspire and help prepare athletes for world sports, we need to support sportsmen and move towards a glorious future in sports, and initiative like this should be encouraged” Yuvraj added.

This announcement has come on the day when boxer Lovlina Borgohain has displayed her extraordinary flair to reach the semi-finals of the women’s welterweight category. She has confirmed a medal for India, whereas weightlifter Mirabai Chanu won a silver for India on the first day of the Tokyo Olympics.
