Kane Williamson tops the charts of best ROI in IPL 2018
Among the bowlers, it is surprising to see Rashid Khan bag the second spot and not the top honors.
The 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League came to a fitting end with the most consistent side in the tournament, Chennai Super Kings, lifting the trophy. The other finalists, Sunrisers Hyderabad, had a tough day at the office on the day when it mattered the most. While SRH finished second in the tournament, their skipper, Kane Williamson has managed to bag a top honor in the season. Williamson finished the IPL 2018 as the leading run scorer and hence, won the Orange Cap.
And now, as per the recent Impact Rankings published in InsideSport, Kane Williamson has emerged as the player with the best Return on Investment (ROI) value for his franchise. Along with Williamson, the man of the finals, Shane Watson, is also a topper in being the ‘most impactful’ player in the season. It is worth noting that both Kane Williamson and Shane Watson were not among the most expensive picks in the season.
Williamson holds the top spot in the list of impactful players with the highest impact – 762 points. Among the batsmen, KL Rahul comes in at number two with 695 points to his name. Rahul was bought for a whopping INR 11 crore at the auctions. He was worth every bit as he finished among the top run scorers of the season.

Among the bowlers, it is surprising to see Rashid Khan bag the second spot and not the top honors. Sunil Narine of the Kolkata Knight Riders tops the list with 530 points to his name. Rashid only has 296 points. The Purple cap winner Andrew Tye, who was bought by KXIP for INR 7.2 crore, comes third with 287 points to his name.

According to the mechanism of MONEYBALL, the Impact Index for each player is calculated by awarding them with Impact points. Impact points are arrived at by applying a simple formula. Players earn 1 point for each run scored; 10 points for each wicket taken, 3 points each for a catch, stumping and run-out made.
