Kane Williamson has become a father for the second time as the New Zealand captain and his wife Sarah Raheem have been blessed with a baby boy. The right-handed batter took to his official Instagram page on Sunday (May 22) and broke the good news. He shared an adorable picture of his wife holding the newborn as well as their first child. For the unversed, Williamson and Sarah became first-time parents in 2019 when they welcomed their daughter Maggie.

Coming to the post, Williamson captioned the monochrome picture, saying: “Welcome to the whnau little man.” Needless to mention, congratulatory messages poured in from different corners with fans showering love and blessings on the infant. The likes of Rashid Khan, Suresh Raina and Jason Holder were among many to congratulate the talismanic cricketer.

Meanwhile, it must be noted that Williamson had left the Sunrisers Hyderabad camp midway through the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 to attend the birth of his second child. Hence, he couldn’t lead the Orange Army in their last league-stage game, which was a dead rubber. Veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar operated as skipper in Williamson’s absence.

Kane Williamson gearing up for international return

Speaking of Williamson’s upcoming assignments, he would be leading New Zealand in a three-match away Test series against England, which gets underway on June 2 at the iconic Lord’s Stadium in London. The series will mark the veteran batter’s return in national colours as he’s yet to play an international match this year.

The star batter last played for New Zealand in November 2021 and has been away from action since then due to a stubborn elbow injury. Nevertheless, he underwent a surgery earlier this year and fitness issues didn’t seem troubling him in IPL 2022. However, his form will be an area of concern for the Kiwis as Williamson was far away from his best in the gala T20 competition.

He scored 216 runs in 13 games with his strike rate being below 95. Although Test cricket is a different ball game, it remains to be seen how the veteran performs on challenging English tracks.
