KBC host Amitabh Bachchan smacks Harbhajan Singh for six, Irfan Pathan commentates hilariously
Harbhajan and Pathan turned up as guests in the season finale of the 13th edition of Kaun Banega Crorepati.
Former India cricketers Irfan Pathan and Harbhajan Singh were recently seen participating in the famous Sony channel quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati, hosted by megastar Amitabh Bachchan. The trio had many memorable moments during the episodes, including a portion where Bachchan faced Harbhajan’s bowling after Pathan’s request.
Harbhajan also request Bachchan for a dance, which the 79-year-old obliged. Later, the duo requested him to have a short cricket match, with Pathan taking up the commentary duties. “We have bowled to many legends over our career and we want to bowl to another one,” Pathan said.
“I have dismissed many great players in my international career but if I can add you to the list, I would be really happy,’ Harbhajan said before delivering to Bachchan. Pathan cheekily pulled Harbhajan’s leg, as he said: “Harbhajan Singh ke haath mein gend, badi pitai hone waali hai Amitabh Bachchan sir ke haath se (Harbhajan Singh has the ball and will be smashed by Amitabh Bachchan sir),”
Harbhajan threw the soft ball at Bachchan, which he middled twice before missing out on one. However, Pathan, who was also the umpire, hilariously called it a no-ball out of nowhere, leaving his former teammate stumped and host Bachchan in splits.
The episode aired on December 17 happened to be the season finale of the 13th season of the popular show that has been running since 2000. KBC also completed the landmark of 1000 episodes this year.
Meanwhile, during the interaction later, Harbhajan also revealed a funny anecdote involving him and batting legend Sachin Tendulkar. He recalled an incident from 1998 when he was bowling to Tendulkar in the nets. Harbhajan told that Tendulkar gestured with a nod after every delivery as if he were asking the bowler to come to him.
While the then-young off-spinner ignored it for the first time, he went ahead and checked with Tendulkar if he had something to say when he did the same after the next ball, only to find he used to fix his helmet that way.
“Woh baad mein pata chala unki aadat hai, woh helmet theek karte hai aise karke (I later found out that it was his way of fixing his helmet),” Harbhajan said, leaving both Pathan and Bachchan laughing.
