Delhi Capitals’ new signing in the IPL 2022 mega auction, Mandeep Singh has expressed his excitement of playing under Ricky Ponting who is the head coach of the franchise. Ever since Ponting came into the coaching setup for the franchise in 2018, Delhi has made to the playoffs thrice and even played their maiden final in the 2020 season. Such has been Ponting’s influence on the youngsters and a lot of players have grown their stature after playing under him including the likes of Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant.

Mandeep, meanwhile, has the experience of playing over 100 IPL games and has a decent record. He has scored 1674 runs at an average of 22 and a strike rate of 124. He is a consistent performer in the domestic circuit and is a versatile batter as well. The 30-year-old made his international debut in 2016 but has fallen out of Team India contention after that. He will be hoping to revive his international future with a good season for the Delhi franchise.
