Kemar Roach and Shane Dowrich pull out of the second Test against New Zealand owing to personal reasons

West Indies have been jolted big time after two of their significant names pulled out of their second Test against New Zealand. Pacer Kemar Roach and wicket-keeping batsman Shane Dowrich would be unavailable for the Test starting at Basin Reserve in NZ’s capital city Wellington. The duo has decided to set foot for the home due to personal reasons. Roach would be returning due to the death of his father in recent times.

On the other hand, Dowrich has pulled out due to other personal commitments. The 22-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman, Joshua DaSilva would be marking his debut as he has been named as the replacement for Dowrich. Left-arm pacer Preston McSween will be up with the squad as cover. Dowrich went down with a hand injury during 1st Test and couldn’t bat even in one innings. On the other hand, Roach returned with 3-114 figures during the same Test.

Shimron Hetmyer is still wrapped under the ‘concussion protocols’ as he suffered a hit in the head in the second T20I, and Keemo Paul is under medication for a groin injury. “They are both being closely monitored by the team’s medical staff, and decisions on their availability will be made at a later date,” the press release stated as quoted by Cricbuzz.

West Indies side has been struggling to make a mark in the purest format of the game. New Zealand is already walking up with the 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series, and they defeated Carribeans in the first Test by an innings and 134 runs. Kane Williamson’s gigantic innings of 251 runs during the first innings of the Test already made a great impact for the Kiwis as they had declared on 519 runs.

Talking about the bowling brilliance of the Kiwis, ace bowler Tim Southee bagged the four-wicket hall in the first innings. Neil Wager did the same job in the 2nd innings as he clinched four wickets on his name. New Zealand also won the T20I series against the struggling West Indies side last month.
