Former Indian cricketer S. Sreesanth has some delightful news coming his way. The cricketer was banned for life by the BCCI owing to the 2013 IPL spot-fixing case now has the Kerala High Court by his side. The Kerala high court has ordered the Indian cricket board to lift the lifetime ban on the fast bowler. Though the cricketer was not found guilty after thorough investigation in 2015, the ban was not removed from the cricketer.

Details:

The Kerala high Court stated that as Sreesanth was acquitted of the case in 2015, the BCCI cannot impose a ban upon the cricketer. The helping hand from the court has come as a blessing for the 34-year-old. Sreesanth was an active member of the Rajasthan Royals franchise in the Indian Premier league (IPL) in 2013. Sreesanth was held guilty by the BCCI’s disciplinary committee later that year and they imposed a life ban the swing bowler.

“He was acquitted in the case. Then how can the BCCI impose a ban on him? It is denial of natural justice,” the High Court said, while quashing the ban on him.

Sreesanth challenged the life ban on him, imposed by the disciplinary commitee as he filed a petition with the Kerala High Court in April.. The BCCI, however, had remained firm on its decision, refusing to grant him an NoC (No Objection Certificate) to play league cricket in Scotland.

The Kerala-born cricketer took to Twitter to express his happiness. He thanked all his fans for the constant support. He also mentioned that he is thankful to god for his greatness. His tweet read “God is great..thanks for the all the love and support”.

Sreesanth has featured in 27 Tests and 53 One Day Internationals for the Indian team after making his debut in October 2005. He has taken 87 wickets in the longest format of the game while his wickets tally in the ODI format stands at 75.
