Kerala state cricketer Rohan Prem ousted from his job for submitting fake certificates
Prem was a part of the Kerala team for the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy season.
Kerala state cricketer Rohan Prem who joined the Accountant General (AG) office as an auditor in 2015, was ousted from his job last year due to producing fake degree certificates during his admission for the job. The AG’s office, under the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, has now filed an official case against the former cricketer for submitting false documents.
Prem was part of the recent Kerala team during the Ranji Trophy 2017-18 season and took part in most of the matches in the domestic tournament. The Cantonment Police station which is positioned very closely to the state secretariat confirmed that a complaint has been registered against the Kerala cricketer by AG’s officials in November 2017.
Rohan submitted his forged details to the company
Rohan is a left-handed batsman who captained the Kerala team in the Ranji seasons 2012-13 and 2016-17. He also tallied 425 runs in 7 matches played in the recently concluded 2017-18 Ranji Trophy. One of the officials of his office who reported this whole incident revealed that Prem had submitted forged details of the university from where he had allegedly passed his graduation.
For the auditor’s post in the Accountant General office, a candidate must have passed his graduation degree from a certified institute to fulfill the eligibility of the respective post. But in accordance with documents produced by the Kerala cricketer, he was only eligible for the position of a data entry operator, who requires being qualified with his Plus 2 certificate. The AG official also quoted that they have not yet received any reply from Rohan regarding this whole fraud committed by him.
”The AG’s office here, after sending a letter to the University in Uttar Pradesh where Prem is believed to have studied for his graduation, got a reply from that university that no such student in the name of Rohan Prem has studied here. Suspicious of it, the office sought a reply from Prem, but failing to get a response he was terminated last year and when the matter was reported to the CAG he insisted that a police case should be filed and it has been done at the local police station here,” said one AG official.
