Kesrick Williams has nothing special apart from his celebration: Kevin Pietersen
On the other hand, Sanjay Manjrekar finds him an useful prospect.
Kesrick Williams wasn’t the standout bowler in West Indies’ T20I series versus India. The speedster was the joint-highest wicket-taker along with Khary Pierre, Sheldon Cottrell and Deepak Chahar. Yet he grabbed the headlines, mostly due to his on-field battle with Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper. A few years ago, Kesrick had the privilege of dismissing Virat in a T20I in the Caribbean Islands.
Thereafter, he pulled out a celebration where he imitated noting down Virat’s name on a notebook. Kohli didn’t forget the same and he gave it back to the bowler in the first T20I in Hyderabad. He took Williams to the cleaners and mocked the pacer with an aggressive version of the notebook celebration. In the second T20I in Thiruvananthapuram, Kesrick got rid of Virat again.
This time around, Williams put his fingers on his lips, silencing the crowd. The third T20I at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai saw Virat smacking the seamer for a massive six. After the blow, Kohli gave a ‘WOW’ look. Kesrick was impressive in that game though, giving away only 37 runs on a day when India amassed 240 runs. He also got the prized wicket of vice-captain Rohit Sharma.
In the meantime, Sanjay Manjrekar, the cricketer turned commentator, said that he can be a efficient prospect in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Manjrekar took to Twitter and wrote, “Go for Kesrick Williams guys. Perfect bowler for IPL conditions.”

A user on Twitter commented that he can be a handy option for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) given his ‘chemistry’ with Kohli. The user also tagged Mike Hesson and Kevin Pietersen. “@RCBTweets should pouch him given the chemistry he shares with @imVkohli I can see the captain and the bowler comparing notes after a dismissal! Brilliant!!! @CoachHesson @KP24,” the user wrote.
Pietersen was quick to take note of the tweet. In his reply, the former England batsman didn’t mince any words in saying that Kesrick Williams doesn’t have the potential to succeed in the IPL and doesn’t have anything special. He replied to the earlier tweet and wrote, “Completely disagree. He’s not good enough! He has nothing special apart from his celebration,”
