Kevin Pietersen asks Virat Kohli to hang out with better footballers
Kohli met Kane and the two seem to bond really well, but Kevin Pietersen has his own take on it.
It seems like almost every other cricketer loves football in one form or another. They either love playing football, or watching it, but one thing is common that, most cricketers have a special place in their heart for football. It goes same for Indian team captain Virat Kohli, who is an ardent footballer and recently met Tottenham Hotspurs’ footballer and England captain Harry Kane at Lord’s ground.
The two sportsmen have been mutual admirers of one another’s craft on social media and Kohli had earlier wished Kane well during the FIFA World Cup, while Kane returned the favour to him for the ICC Cricket World Cup. The two met on May 24, just before the start of the cricket’s most prized tournament which was hosted by the UK. This was the first time, the two greats met in person and the duo shared pics on social media.
With both England and India making it into the knockouts, both friends were seen having a light banter on the social media as Harry Kane mentioned in a tweet that he had a great time meeting Virat and wishes him for all the future matches in the tournament. But those pleasantries were limited till India faced England, where Kane wished for his home side to end up victors.
KP takes a dig at Spurs
Kevin Pietersen, who has been on commentary duties in the ICC World Cup is an ardent fan of football himself, but it seems like, he is an ardent follower of Chelsea football club and seemed like took offence at Kohli meeting a footballer from Tottenham. On the same image at which Kohli thanked Harry Kane, Pietersen had some advice for Kohli who he considers a friend from their time with RCB in the IPL.
Pietersen commented on Kohli’s image saying, “Pls hangout with someone from a proper football club, mate. Spurs are so far inferior to the Chelsea legends! Thanks ”
Team India and Australia the two contenders for the No.1 spot on the points table play the doubleheader on Saturday with Sri Lankan and South Africa respectively. The one that ends on top will face New Zealand placed at 4 and the other plays England.
