Kevin Pietersen proclaims Kohli-de Villiers better than Williamson
The former England skipper gets into a banter with wicketkeeper-batsman Shreevats Goswami
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman AB de Villiers produced yet another brilliant innings in front of the home crowd at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. The 34-year old smashed the bowlers at will during his knock, smashing 12 fours and a massive 105-meter six which went out of the stadium.
The right-hander got an able partner in the form of England all-rounder Moeen Ali who too was at his best during his innings which saw him hit the ball over the line on six occasions. Final bust from Colin de Grandhomme and Sarfaraz Khan helped them post a huge total.
However, Sunrisers Hyderabad did not give up. After the wicket of opener Shikhar Dhawan, Hales played a handy inning of 37 runs but was left in a frenzy when de Villiers took a blinder of a catch on the boundary line. Skipper Williamson who has been in a golden form in the tournament continued his run with yet another half-century, this time as per the demand, he scored his run lot quicker.
He partnered with batsman Manish Pandey who had failed to impress this season but returned to form as the two added 135 runs to keep the side in the run chase.
Williamson heroics fail to win the Kohli
The Sunrisers Hyderabad needed 20 runs in the last over the win the game and knock the RCB out of the tournament. 24-year old Mohammed Siraj had the responsibility to defend the target. The wicket of Williamson on the first delivery meant that things would be difficult for the SRH. They eventually failed to chase the target, falling short by 14 runs.
SRH wicketkeeper Shreevats Goswami took to Twitter talking about the match which he described as an ‘epic one’. Goswami felt that both the sides showed great skills on the ground. Notably, Goswami felt that there is no better batsman in the world than Kane Williamson in all the three formats and wanted the Tweeples to suggest if any.
Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen was quick to answer the Kolkata-born Goswami, suggesting that AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli are the better batsmen than Williamson across the format.
Pietersen’s Tweet:
Goswami replying the 37-year old former English batter called him CABIN, jokingly and added that for him he was number one batsman. Notably, when Kevin Pietersen was in Mumbai, he had posted a picture where on a coffee glass, he name was written as Cabin instead of Kevin and Goswami didn’t miss out the chance to remind Pietersen about it.
