Kevon Cooper finishes BPL 3 as the leading wicket taker
Kevon Keston Cooper has emerged as the leading wicket-taker in 2015 edition of the Bangladesh Premier League.
With 2 wickets that he claimed in the title clash against Comilla Victorians, yesterday, 15th December 2015, Cooper has aggregated a total of 22 wickets from playing in just 9 matches in the competition.
He has averaged 9.31, with an economy rate of 5.85 and a striker rate of 9.50. He has claimed ‘4-wicket haul’ and ‘5-wicket haul’ on one occasion each. Having bowled 35 overs in the competition, he has given away 205 runs.
His best bowling figure of 5/15 came in the match against Rangpur Riders, played on 23rd November 2015, when he accounted Riders skipper, Shakib Al Hasan (6), Misbah-ul-Haq (19), Darren Sammy (2), Al-Amin (4) and Mukhtar Ali (0).
Cooper also scored 21 runs off just 13 deliveries in the match and helped his team, Barisal Bulls, to win the match by 13 runs. For his all-round performance, he was adjudged the Player of the match
Kevon’s ‘four-wicket’ haul also came against the same team, Rangpur Riders, in the second qualifier match played on 13th December 2015.
He was instrumental in restricting the Riders to 160/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Giving away 39 runs in his spell of 4 overs, Cooper claimed the wickets of Soumya Sarkar (6), Thisara Perera (5), Darren Sammy (23) and Mohammad Nabi (8).
Barisal Bulls won the match by 5 wickets and went on to face Comilla Victorians in the title clash, which, however, they (Bulls) lost by three wickets and ended as runners-up in the tournament.
Left-arm medium pacer, Abu Hider of the eventual champions, Comilla Victorians, ranks a close second behind Cooper with 21 wickets from 12 matches.
