Key Afghanistan player ruled out of the historic Test against India
The India vs Afghanistan Test gets underway on June 14 in Bangalore.
Afghanistan are days away from creating history when they take on the cricketing giants India in the one-match Test series. For the away side, the Test match is more than just five days of cricket, for them, it is years and years of hard work on and the off the field to earn a Full Member status. They are slated to make Test debut against the No.1 Test side on June 14 in Bangalore.
The transformation of the Afghanistan side in the recent years has been massive. From Afghanistan being just another associate nation, they have come a long way to become a Test-playing nation thanks to the contribution of all the players who’ve been a part of the setup for the last one decade. Up against them is Team India, minus their skipper Virat Kohli.
Huge series for both the sides:
Up in front of the Indian contingent would be the mystery spin duo of Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Not only can Rashid trouble them with the ball, but is also an able batsman and an excellent fielder in all corners of the cricketing field. Alongside Rashid, the Indian batsmen might also struggle to pick up the mystery spin of Mujeeb.
Mujeeb to miss the series?
The 17-year-old, who plied his trade for the Kings XI Punjab side emerged as of one of the talents who played an excellent tournament, picking up 14 wickets before injury forced him out of the playing XI. Ahead of the clash, Afghanistan are faced with a sad news, and that is the injury to pacer Dawalat Zadran, who is out with a knee injury.
“Fast bowler @dawlat_zadarn suffered a knee injury during the training camp in India. He has been advised one month’s rest by doctors. Therefore, he will not be available for the T20I series against Bangladesh as well as Afghanistan’s one-off Test against India,” Afghan Cricket Board tweeted on Monday.
