KL Rahul isn't ready to allow fear hinder his dreams

KL Rahul had an auspicious start to his English campaign as he scored a stupendous century in the opening T20I at Old Trafford in Manchester. However, he hasn’t been able to make much of an impact thereafter. He is currently playing in India’s five-match Test series against the Brits and has flattered to deceive in the first two matches at Edgbaston and Lord’s respectively.

In the opening Test, the right-handed batsman could score only 17 runs, combining two innings. In the first innings of the match, left-arm seamer Sam Curran castled him for four runs. In the next innings, he fell prey to Ben Stokes during India’s run chase of 194 runs. Even at the ‘Home of Cricket’, the 26-year-old batsman was unable to hit his straps with the willow.

Rahul struggles to find his feet

He was promoted to open the batting in place of Shikhar Dhawan, but he couldn’t survive the heat and became James Anderson’s second victim of the innings. He floundered even in the second innings as Anderson accounted for his wicket for the second time in the same match. All in all, Rahul has scored 35 runs in two matches at a forgettable average of 8.75.

The third Test starts will be played from August 18 to 22 at Trent Bridge in Nottingham and Rahul has a tough task ahead of him to arrest his slump with the bat in hand. The Indian squad for the final two matches at The Rose Bowl and Kennington Oval is yet to be announced and another poor performance may turn out to be detrimental to his career in the near future.

However, the Karnataka-born cricketer isn’t ready to allow his fear of failures mar his mental sanctity. He uploaded a picture where he can be seen walking out to bat along with Murali Vijay. He captioned the same and wrote, “Dreams > Fear.”
