KL Rahul reveals his inspiration behind the post-century celebration with Virat Kohli
Rahul played a brilliant knock of 101 runs off just 54 balls.
KL Rahul is in the form of his life as he has continued in the same vein since the Indian Premier League (IPL) and began his England tour with a ton as well. India managed to thump the hosts in the first of the three-match T20I series on the back of his brilliant show with the willow. However, more than the century, the celebration between Rahul and Virat Kohli was the talk of the town after the match.
Kuldeep Yadav was the hero for the Men in Blue with the ball who bowled a sensational spell to return with the figures of 5/24. His bowling bamboozled the in-form batting line-up of England as he went on to pick the wickets of Eoin Morgan, Alex Hales, Jos Buttler, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow which restricted them to a total of 159.
India only needed a calm head to steer them through to the victory but no one expected KL Rahul to blaze away in such a fashion. He just ripped apart the bowling line-up of England and broke them into pieces to reach his second T20 International century.
Who is the inspiration?
Rahul soaked in all the applause from the crowd and his teammates after the ton and also did a dab celebration on his own. But then he went back and also shared his joy in a special way with Kohli which was a unique one. In an interview with Dinesh Karthik after the match, he revealed the inspiration behind that kind of a celebration. He also gave key insights into his different styles of celebration.
“By the end of the England series, I want to have a different handshake with all the members in the team right now. I have one with Hardik (Pandya). With Virat you saw it,” he said. However, when Karthik asked if the celebration was taken out of Cristiano Ronaldo, he said, “Yea, sort of. You know Virat’s a huge Ronaldo fan.”
