Cricket and Bollywood have gone hand in hand over the last few years. Mostly after the inception of the Indian Premier League (IPL), their relationship has been strengthened. A number of new-age stars from both the fields have got married. A few of the B-Town stars have also been seen rooting for their favourite teams and players. Indian cricketer KL Rahul has also been spotted with a number of stars.
The 26-year-old is expected to get a new supporter for the upcoming World Cup in England and Wales. Akansha Ranjan who is actress Alia Bhatt’s best friend would be cheering for Rahul from the stands during the tournament as per reports in DNA. It was also mentioned that Akansha has been devoting a large amount of her time with Rahul. They have also been spotted going to movie dates to even house parties.
Rahul was also spotted with Akansha in Mount Mary Church. The 25-year-old Akansha is a popular figure on social media with over lakh followers on Instagram. She recently featured in Ankit Tiwari’s music video Tere Do Naina opposite Aparshakti Khurana, the brother of Ayushmann Khurana, a popular Bollywood Actor and the winner of MTV Roadies Season 2 in 2004.
Challenging times for KL Rahul
As far as Rahul’s cricketing career is concerned, he has had to strain a wee bit in the last one year. After an incredible campaign in IPL 2018, he got into the Indian team. However, inconsistent performances have turned detrimental in his career, despite him possessing a truckload of talent. Moreover, off-field controversies didn’t help his cause either as he got sidelined from the Indian team.
There were also doubts about whether he would be selected in the final 15-member squad for the World Cup or not. Nevertheless, the Karnataka batsman made the cut. His campaign in the mega-event didn’t start on a happy note though as he could manage only six runs off 10 balls in India’s first warm-up match against New Zealand at the Kennington Oval in London.
He was clean bowled by fast bowler Trent Boult and would now be looking to make amends in the second warm-up fixture against Bangladesh at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.
