KL Rahul takes a sly dig at team management after playing a magical knock against West Indies in 3rd T20I
KL Rahul played a stellar knock of 91 runs off 56 balls in 3rd T20I against West Indies.
KL Rahul, the Indian batsman had a great T20I series against West Indies as he showcased his top-notch form. In the on-going year, he had been brought under the scanner of the critics on numerous occasions for his inconsistency. The Karnataka-born batsman shut down everyone with his commendable performances in the recently-concluded series against the Caribbean side. However, Rahul looked quite unimpressed with the way the team management has treated him when he was struggling with his poor form.
The right-hander was given the responsibility to open for Team India against West Indies after Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out from the T20I series due to knee injury. And, it worked brilliantly for Rahul, who mustered 163 runs in three-match series. He slammed 91 runs in the series decider and helped his side in thrashing Kieron Pollard and Co. by 67 runs in order to seal the T20I series. He was also given Man of The Match award for his magical knock at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in the 3rd T20I.
KL Rahul feels international cricket brings a lot of pressure for a player
In the post-match conference, KL Rahul said that it is never easy for any player to be constantly being picked and dropped from the team. It looked like the Karnataka batsman was not happy with the way team management has treated him in recent times.
Rahul also added that it takes some time for a player to get settle down in international cricket and gets used to the pressure. According to him, this game is just about confidence and rhythm because there is no easy opponent against which any player can go out and easily score runs. In contrary, Rahul feels that it doesn’t matter if he is out from the team but he keeps preparing for the games.
“I won’t say I won’t feel it (pressure) at all. Obviously, going in and out of the team is never easy on any player. You take a little bit of time to get used to the international pressure and oppositions and there is no opposition where you can just walk in and score runs, so it’s always difficult and this game is all about confidence and all about being in a good rhythm and being in good touch,” Rahul said in the post-match conference.
So again, having said that I can’t really sit outside and not prepare, all I can do is sit outside and prepare and try to create match feel for myself and I did play a lot of first-class cricket, so not a lot of changes,” he further said
