In an order to bolster their wicketkeeping options, Kolkata Knight Riders signed up Nikhil Naik in the auction for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. Despite having two specialist wickets – Dinesh Karthik and Robin Uthappa in the squad, the two-time IPL champions secured Naik’s services at his base price of INR 20 Lacs. And on Monday (January 7), they posted a video of the Maharashtra wicketkeeper which pretty much shows that they might have made a steal in the auction.

Naik is not new to the cash-rich lucrative T20 league. He was a part of the Kings XI Punjab squad in 2016 and managed to play two games. However, 23 runs in those two outings saw him being released by the franchise. But he now has another chance to showcase his potential after being signed up by the Kolkata-based franchise and he would be desperate to justify their immense faith.

And it looks like the Knight Riders are also excited about their latest signing. They posted a video of their wicketkeeping recruit on Twitter, boasting about him. In the clip, Nair could be seen taking some absolute gems of catches, jumping left and right with equal ease to pull off blinders.

“The wicketkeeping options in KKR’s #IPL2019 squad: DK, Robbie, and our latest recruit, Nikhil Naik 💪 A powerful hitter, and a keeper with wings!,” wrote the Knight Riders.

Knight Riders form balanced squad:

Contrary to the popular speculations, Knight Riders had a decent outing under new skipper Dinesh Karthik in the IPL 2018. Despite releasing their inspirational skipper Gautam Gambhir and releasing most of the former players, they did extremely well. Their season ended with a loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the second qualifier.

The Dinesh Karthik-led side will now be aiming for even better performance in the upcoming season and they have formed a formidable squad for the same. After releasing the likes of Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Johnson, Javon Searles and Cameron Delport, they signed up players like Carlos Brathwaite, Lockie Ferguson and Joe Denly.
