Kraigg Brathwaite happy with the way he is batting

In what was a simply terrible batting display, West Indies vice-captain Kraigg Brathwaite has attributed his fantastic batting ability to the hard work on different parts of his game. Brathwaite has been in phenomenal form for the West Indies and has been one of the standout performers as far as the home side is concerned. The Windies have shown good survival instincts when it comes to saving a Test match, the fact of the matter that they have been poor overall remains.

Brathwaite smashed a half-century and stitched important partnerships with both Darren Bravo and Leon Jonson. Brathwaite however, attributed this to his improvement as a batsman. “I have always been working on different aspects of the game. When I first started off, I had a few things to work on, technical stuff. But now, I’m improving as a batsman. I know my strengths and weakness and just play towards my strengths.”

Speaking about the lead the Indians have taken on the day, Brathwaite was quick to point out the impact made by pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The latter picked up 5 wickets as the Indians wrested back the control they once had on proceedings. “India has a very good lead, but tomorrow as batsmen we have got to come and work hard and build partnerships. We think (Bhuvneshwar) Kumar bowled well with the new ball. When he took that new ball it was the key because he took four quick wickets.

“Like I said, they have a decent lead. So obviously we have to see what they do tomorrow in terms of the declaration. We think the pitch is still a good one and in terms of the time we have the key is to assess it as a batting group and decide whether to go for the win or the draw. We will see when the declaration comes, what we will go for,” Brathwaite added.
