The Indian selectors picked left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya for the A team’s tour to England. He has been in the reckoning for a while now and another good Indian Premier League season with the Mumbai Indians pushed his chances further. What helped Pandya stake a claim even for a spot in the Indian T20I team was his ability to bat in the lower order and hit a few mighty blows. Like his younger brother Hardik, Krunal is also a power hitter and being a batsman it is easier for him presume the course of attack while bowling.

Pandya in one of the List A matches against England Lions had a surprise in store for the batsman. He ran in with his regular short run-up against the right-handed batter. He had a slip in place to make sure an edge found a man waiting for it. But as the left-arm spinner pitched the ball it was not his usual fuller length trying to extract turn from the surface. He, in fact, didn’t even bowl it short it was a well-directed bouncer that jumped from the surface and was aimed at the batsman’s ribs.

It was at an awkward height, totally deceived all the bat wielder could do was defend it at the last moment. He couldn’t get his bat up in time and the ball most probably hit his gloves and had Krunal placed a fielder around the bat on the on-side would’ve been a catch.

The batsman looked back at him trying to gauge what had he bowled and the 27-year-old just walked back to his bowling mark. He later posted the clip on Twitter and wrote a rather funny caption with it. Krunal mentioned that he didn’t want to let just the faster bowlers have all the fun bowling the bouncer and thus decided to dish one out himself.

Here is the video of the ball:

His effort didn’t just impress the batsman and Pandya’s followers on Twitter but another spinner looks quite interested in trying it. Rashid Khan replied to Krunal’s tweet and wrote that he would also want to work on it.

“Exactly we should work on it”
