Krunal Pandya excited to don the Indian jersey alongside brother Hardik

Krunal Pandya, the Baroda cricketer, has been an integral member of the Mumbai Indians in the IPL for quite a few seasons now. He did splendidly in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy as well. He broke into India’s T20I squad during the England series but didn’t get to play. However, fortunes have finally favoured the 27-year-old spin-bowling all-rounder.

India are scheduled to play quite a few T20Is in the coming months and Krunal has found his way into the team for the series against the Windies and Australia. He may also be selected for the series against New Zealand provided he manages to impress the selectors. Meanwhile, he expressed his delight after the selection and said that his wife Pankuri gave him the news.

Hardik had gone to sleep by then

“I was really surprised and obviously, happy when I got to know of my selection. The team was announced at 10.30pm. Pankhuri (his wife) told me that I was selected for the T20s against West Indies. After that, when I logged on to Twitter, I saw my name in the Indian T20 team for Australia also,” Krunal was quoted as saying in The Times of India (TOI).

“Hardik had gone to sleep by then, as he had to train in the morning. However, he came out after he got to know and was all excited,” he added.

The elder of the Pandya’s also sounded ecstatic on being given a chance for representing India alongside his younger brother Hardik. “It’s a dream that in future we will play together for India, like we do for MI. From childhood, we’ve played all our cricket together,” Krunal added.

After winning the Test and ODI series, the Men in Blue will play three T20Is against the Caribbean team, the first of which will be played at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday, November 4. The series against Australia gets underway on November 21 at The Gabba in Brisbane.
