Krunal Pandya feels that he is one step closer to realizing his dream of playing for India
The allrounder has been one of the impact players for Mumbai Indians
The Indian Premier League offers the opportunity to the players to showcase their talent and prove their mettle against some of the best players in the world. We have seen in the past that good performances in the IPL are rewarded by national selectors. Players like Shaun Marsh, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya got into the national side after impressing the selectors through the IPL.
There have been few consistent performers in the IPL over the past few years and Krunal Pandya is certainly one of them. The elder of the Pandya brothers, Krunal has been the backbone of the Mumbai Indians. He has the ability to score runs at a tremendous pace and can bowl some handy off-spinners as well. Krunal Pandya has scored 189 runs in 11 matches and bagged 11 wickets with his orthodox left-arm spin. His consistent performances have earned him a call-up into the India A team.
Job not yet done
“And it is just one step closer to the senior team. I will try to give my best when I go there (to England) but right now this is an important stage of the tournament (in IPL). I want to do well for MI first and then I will see how it goes,” the all-rounder was quoted as saying by indiatvnews.com. At the moment, Krunal wants to take one game at a time as MI finds themselves in a situation where they need to will all of their remaining fixtures to qualify for the playoffs.
The Mumbai Indians are known as late bloomers as they somehow regain their form in the latter half of the tournament and climb up on the points table. The men in blue have been involved in several last over finishes but failed to get over the line which has cost them dearly. They cannot make mistakes now as all the remaining fixtures are potential knockout matches.
Krunal hopes that Mumbai Indians bring out their top game and qualify for the knockout stages. The men in blue will face the Rajasthan Royals in their next encounter which is also expected to go down to the wire.
