KSCA to donate INR 1 crore to aid in the fight against Coronavirus pandemic
Cricket Association of Bengal had also donated big amount of money in the battle against the pandemic.
Amid Coronavirus outbreak, Narendra Modi, the honourable Indian Prime Minister announced a 21-day lockdown in the country. He also urged the people of the country to step out and help the needy, poor and underprivileged in the country. The cricket bodies of various states of the nation have taken note of the Prime Minister’s request and have begun contributing with some hefty amount of donations for their fight against the outbreak of the virus.
Earlier, Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) played an active part in the donation. Even cricketers like Gautam Gambhir, Sourav Ganguly, Richa Ghosh, Suresh Raina contributed individually for the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. Everyone has joined hand in hand under such a stern situation.
After CAB, now KSCA comes forward and contributes
In an interview, a spokesperson from Karnataka Cricket Association said that they will contribute an amount of INR 50 Lakhs through BCCI to Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund. Moreover, they have come onto a decision to donate another INR 50 Lakhs to Chief Minister Karnataka Government State relief fund.
He also opened up saying that they have donated such big amounts to increase the strength in of the disaster management capacities of central and state under such stiff conditions. As per him, KSCA will continue to monitor the conditions until it comes under control. They are going to work with the Karnataka government as well as with other state regulatory bodies. And, they are ready to give any type of support to central and state in their battle to fight Coronavirus.
“KSCA through BCCI wishes to contribute Rs 50 Lakhs to Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund and Rs 50 Lacs toward CM Karnataka Government State relief fund. The donation is towards strengthening the central and state in this disaster management capacities and encourage research to combat COVID-19 and protect the citizens,” KSCA spokesperson said as quoted by Hindustan Times.
“The KSCA will continue to monitor and work closely with the Government of Karnataka and other state regulatory bodies and we are committed to providing any other necessary support to the state machinery,” he added.
