KXIP vs MI: Live Streaming, Match Preview, Timings, Stats, Pitch Report & more for Dream11 IPL, Match 13
Both Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab have had their moments in the tournament thus far, though they have not been able to grab those to end up on the correct side of the result.
Cometh the 13th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, two heartbroken teams – Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) – will clash with each other at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. While the former is coming after almost clinching the game only to lose it in the Super Over to the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the latter is entering the contest after being on the receiving end of a historic chase by the Rajasthan Royals (RR).
The Mumbai Indians rose out of the dead to reach close to a mammoth target of 202 posted by RCB courtesy the half-centuries of Devdutt Padikkal, Aaron Finch, and AB de Villiers. Once teetering at 3 for 39, that got further deteriorated to 4 for 78, MI was rescued by the heroics of Ishan Kishan, who missed out on an extremely well-deserved century by a painful margin of 1 run, and Kieron Pollard, who went berserk with the bat to take his team as close as a tie. The so-close-yet-so-far story of MI went into the Super Over, where they eventually lost the game to their opponents despite a major comeback.
On the other hand, Kings XI Punjab must be disheartened after losing a game despite posting a record total on the board. If it was KL Rahul’s bat that made the hustle in the game before this, it was Mayank Agarwal who slammed a century that guided his team to a ridiculous total of 226 for 2. In a bid to defend a total that was never chased in the history of the IPL, the bowling unit of KXIP was torn apart in pieces by the might of Sanju Samson and skipper Steven Smith.
The men in red made a comeback for a brief while, however, the talismanic act of Rahul Tewatia, who slammed 5 sixes in an over of Sheldon Cottrell, took RR to a historical victory. Both the teams have had their moments in the tournament thus far, though they have not been able to grab the moments to end up on the correct side of the result. Coming against each other after having similar fates, both MI and KXIP will be keen to not repeat their mistakes.
Pitch and conditions
The track at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium has been on the slower side right from the initiation of the tournament. The batsmen have found it difficult to get themselves flowing straight away and hence, the rate of scoring has not been too high. With dew playing a part in the latter part of the game, the teams might prefer to chase and bat under lights.
Playing Combinations for KXIP vs MI
Kings XI Punjab Probable 11
The opening duo of KXIP has been giving inspirational starts to the team, hitting a century each in consecutive games. The middle-order of the team has not been promising as none amongst Glenn Maxwell, Sarfaraz Khan, and Karun Nair have been able to make an impact. Nicholas Pooran played a blinder in the last game and will look to continue with his big-hitting.
Although the pace combo of Sheldon Cottrell and Mohammed Shami has reaped results for them so far, Cottrell was smothered left, right, and center, in the last game. The management might try Mujeeb Ur Rahman in place of James Neesham, whereas spinners Ravi Bishnoi and Murugan Ashwin will pick themselves.
Probable 11- Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul (C & WK), Nicholas Pooran, Glenn Maxwell, Karun Nair, James Neesham/Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman, Sarfaraz Khan, Murugan Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Sheldon Cottrell, Ravi Bishnoi.
Mumbai Indians Probable 11
Unlike their adversaries, the top-order for MI has been sporadic in its run with Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock not firing in tandem. The pick of the batsman was Ishan Kishan, who poured in the last drop from his kettle to his team’s victory, however, his efforts went in vain much like Kieron Pollard’s. Hardik Pandya is yet to be used as an all-rounder after his injury, and his unavailability has disturbed the team combination to some extent.
His brother Krunal has nothing major to show after all the matches thus far. However, no change is expected in this slot. The pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has also not been at his lethal best and his inconsistency would certainly be a concern for the team. However, he is expected to lead the attack alongside Trent Boult and James Pattinson.
Probable 11- Quinton de Kock (WK), Rohit Sharma (C), Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, James Pattinson, Rahul Chahar, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah.
