KXIP's best chance to win their maiden IPL trophy, feels David Miller

South Africa middle-order batsman David Miller was sold to Mumbai Indians during the auction for the 11th edition of the tournament for 3 crores. However, his old franchise Kings XI Punjab opted to use the Right to Match (RTM) card and got the left-handed player to their side.

Chasing the target in the 1st match, Miller with his crucial knock of 24 helped the side start their campaign with a win. But after featuring for the side in the 1st match, Miller was replaced by Australia batsman Aaron Finch. He made a return again for the side replacing injured Chris Gayle and played another useful knock of 26 runs in just 19 balls. The batsman found himself out of the side yet again after that knock, making way for the West Indian.

Talking about his opportunities in the tournament, Miller said that he is bit disappointed but suggested that it was not in his hands. According to 28-year Miller, one needs to be motivated as they can get an opportunity at any time. “A bit disappointed, but that’s fine. It’s up to the management to decide the best XI. It’s important to stay motivated. Anytime you can be asked to play,” said the left-handed Miller during his chat with Hindustan Times.

Talking about his side’s performance in the ongoing tournament, David Miller told that the players are doing pretty well and are enjoying their time. Miller was of the thought that If a side wants to win a big competition, they need to put inspired performances. Miller added that everyone is contributing to the win. Miller felt that this is their best chance to win the tournament.

Speaking about the teammates, Miller said that one gets to learn a lot by being with such players. Notably, Miller is only a few of the players who have been with a single franchise all his IPL career. Miller spoke highly of KL Rahul and suggested that he has a great career ahead of him, in all the three formats. Miller also hailed Yuvraj Singh as a champion player. He termed captain Ravichandran Ashwin a very astute captain.

Chris Gayle once included in the playing XI has played some huge innings. Speaking of the West Indian, Miller said, “He’s a great man. I always wanted to know him. Everyone thinks he’s too old and this and that. He’s an absolute legend. He’s the spark KXIP needed.”
