Match no 43 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) saw Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab locking horns with each other. Both the teams walked up to reserve their playoffs berth, and Punjab won the game by 12 runs. Batting first, KL Rahul opened with Mandeep Singh in the absence of Mayank Agarwal. The team was reduced to a paltry total of 126/7 but remained courageous enough to defend the lowest total of IPL 2020.

Chris Jordan was named as the player of the match as he sparked an absolute turnover for Punjab towards the end. He picked three wickets at a crucial moment by conceding just 17 runs off four overs. KL Rahul (27 off 27) and Nicholas Pooran (32 off 28) added a handful of runs for the team. Rashid Khan has just not been leaving any chance to trouble batsmen, and this game was no different. He conceded just 14 runs to pick two wickets.

Bowlers turned heroes for KXIP

Chasing an ordinary total, SRH started off well but what followed next was pure dominance by Punjab’s bowlers. David Warner (35 off 20) and Vijay Shankar (26 off 27) got some runs for the team but got out at the wrong time. Arshdeep Singh picked three wickets along with Jordan to get his team over the line. Young spinner Ravi Bishnoi conceded just 13 runs to pick one wicket.

Who has Orange and Purple Cap?

After KXIP vs SRH and KKR vs DC game, Mumbai Indians sit on the top of the table. Next in line are Delhi Capitals at 2nd spot. Next contenders in the points tally are Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders. However, the fight for the final fourth place in the list is getting competitive day by day.

KL Rahul keeps the Orange Cap with big 567 runs in his bag. He is followed by Delhi’s star batsman Shikhar Dhawan for the second place. 3rd and 4th slots are held by Mayank Agarwal and Shreyas Iyer in the same race. Kagiso Rabada keeps the Purple Cap who has 23 wickets in IPL 2020 so far. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have 17 wickets each under their belt. Trent Boult has 16 wickets in the season so far.
