Lauren Winfield ruled out of the match against India due to wrist injury

English wicketkeeper batswoman, Lauren Winfield, would be unable to take part in the upcoming fixture against the Indians in the ICC Women’s World Cup scheduled to be held in England. The wicket-keeper injured her wrist in a warm-up clash against New Zealand at Derby while batting on 27.

Having made her debut back in 2015 against Australia, the Yorkshirewoman has been an integral part of English Women’s batting setup. In 25 matches she has played so far, she has scored as many as 606 runs at an average of 26.34, scoring three half-centuries and a best of 123.

She was also a part of the Big Bash League for the Brisbane Heat Women. Winfield also represented the Yorkshire Diamonds in the Women’s cricket super league. Also in the 18 T20I matches, she has played so far, she has piled up as many as 404 at an average of almost 24. She has scored three half-centuries, with the best score of 74.

Why England would miss the services of Winfield

Winfield has been in prime form this summer as she has already notched up a century and two half-centuries in the last ten innings she has played. The injury to Winfield would certainly a huge blow to England Women who certainly were banking on her form in prior to the start of the tournament at the opening slot.

England Women are scheduled to take on India at Derby tomorrow whereas New Zealand plays Sri Lanka simultaneously at Bristol. As a result of this injury, Lauren Winfield remains out of contention for the upcoming match against India.

A protective cast shall be used as a precautionary measure for the 26-year old. The medical staff of England cricket team is scheduled to assess the quintessential English batswoman next week. As a result, Winfield would remain out of contention even for the Pakistan game scheduled to be played on June 27 at Leicester.
