The Indian Premier League is known for hosting some finest of young talents around the country, and the current edition is no different. The likes of Devdutt Padikkal, Ravi Bishnoi, Yashasvi Jaiswal are doing their best to make the mark in the current edition. Joining the same line is another young talent, Kartik Tyagi, who stepped in for his debut with Rajasthan Royals against Mumbai Indians on October 6.

After showing his sheer class in the Indian U19 team, he was snapped by Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2020 edition at a handsome amount of INR 1.30 crore. He made his first-class debut in Ranji Trophy 2017-18, playing for Uttar Pradesh.

He made his List A debut two years back when he was featured in Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2018 for Uttar Pradesh. He stepped in playing XI of Royals in place of Jaydev Unadkat against Mumbai.

Birth

He was born on November 8, 2000, in Dhanaura village of Hapur town in Uttar Pradesh.

Family

His father’s name is Yogendra Tyagi, who is a farmer, and Kartik belongs to a financially unstable family. However, his father helped him to follow his passion.

Hobbies

Tyagi was fascinated with fast bowling from a very small age and wanted to do that in the future. He likes to swing the ball in both ways and liked to bowl Yorkers.

Integral role in 2020 U19 WC

He was the second-highest wicket-taker in U19 WC and picked 11 wickets in six matches he played. He touched magical figures of 4/24 when India was defending an extremely low total. Indian won the match and he was named as the man of the match.

Hat-trick in the warm-up match in 2020 U19 WC

Kartik Tyagi took Hat trick in the very first over he bowled against Bangladesh in a warm-up match during U19 WC.

Idol

Kartik Tyagi idolises Australian bowling legend Brett Lee and has taken inspiration for his bowling action from him only. In fact, he likes to celebrate his wicket, the way Lee does.

Struggles

Since Kartik belonged to a weaker section of society, his father had to sell his land in order to bear the cost of his medical treatment a few years back.

International Exposure

Kartik Tyagi has played international matches against England, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan so far.
