Ricky Ponting (Australia) 2003 and 2007

Ricky Ponting scored back to back centuries in 2 different World Cup editions in 2003 and 2007 making him the only batsman to do so in ODI and World Cup cricket. Ponting scored 114 against Sri Lanka at Centurion in the semi-finals and 140* against India in the finals of World Cup 2003. Australia won their 3rd World cup and 2nd World Cup consecutively. Ricky Ponting did it again in the 2007 World Cup tournament making a century 113 against Scotland in Basseterre in West Indies, technically making 3 centuries in 3 consecutive World Cup matches. Australia won the 2007 World Cup to complete the hat-tricks of the tournament and won the 4th tournament overall.
