The first season of the IPL had seen some stupendous bowling from the young Pakistan fast bowler, Sohail Tanvir. His swingy action is a major plus for the left-hander, his bowling action and landing is so peculiar that it makes it very challenging for the batsmen to read the ball and they miss out to hit even on lose balls. Tanvir’s ability swing the ball and change the pace occasionally in IPL are the reasons that facilitated him to grab 22 wickets in just 11 games of the inaugural season. The Pakistani pacer had best bowling figures of 6/14 against the mighty CSK.

The IPL moved to South Africa in this year, and RP Singh made the most of the seaming wickets in the Rainbow nation. His skills to take the ball away from the batsmen and to bring it back in make him a dangerous bowler to face at this level.  RP used the conditions so well that he got 23 wickets for his team, Deccan Chargers. He was the frontrunner and eventually was the purple cap holder that year and DC relied heavily on his performance on this tournament.

The left-hand spinner from Hyderabad delivered his best for the Deccan Chargers in this edition of the IPL. A round arm action and spot on Yorkers are the features of his bowling; it is really tough for any batsman to hit Malinga and that is what makes him so effective. He is one of the best in this format when it comes to curtailing runs in the end, and bowl disguised slower bowls and toe crushing Yorkers. Right on the money, surprising short deliveries, bouncers and full length balls along with accurate Yorkers are all part of Dwayne Bravo’s armory. An extremely clever customer in the middle and death overs, Bravo has been a vital cog in the Chennai bowling line-up over the years. He had a bowling average of 21.3 in the tournament and an economy of just 7.42 with the best of 4/29. He bowled the most dot balls in the tournament too, with as many as 156 dots to his name, the next being Mustafizur with 137 dots. His skill of flighting the ball, inviting the batsmen to hit over the top and deceiving them made him a tough bowler to deal with. Ojha varied his pace to good effect and got the wickets at crucial times for the side. In the 2010 season, he took 21 wickets with best bowling figures of 3/26.</p>
<h4><strong>4. Lasith Malinga, IPL 4, 2011</strong></h4>

<p>The fiery fast bowler has been the triumph card for Mumbai Indians over the years. A round arm action and spot on Yorkers are the features of his bowling; it is really tough for any batsman to hit Malinga and that is what makes him so effective. He is one of the best in this format when it comes to curtailing runs in the end, and bowl disguised slower bowls and toe crushing Yorkers. This unique ability made Slinga Malinga the leading wicket taker in the 2011 season. He got 28 wickets in 16 matches for the men in blue with best bowling figures of 5/13.</p>
<h4><strong>5. Morne Morkel, IPL 5, 2012.</strong></h4>

<p>The right-hand fast bowler from South Africa has produced some excellent spells in the IPL. During his stint with the Delhi Daredevils, he used his height to generate the extra pace and bounce and got 25 wickets from just 16 innings. Morne Morkel can dip the ball into the batsmen and has done exactly the same to record his best bowling figures of 4/20.  He has awarded the Purple cap for this edition for his outstanding performance with the bowl.</p>

<p>Right on the money, surprising short deliveries, bouncers and full length balls along with accurate Yorkers are all part of Dwayne Bravo’s armory. He has used all his skills to best effect in the IPL and got spectacular results. He fared well for CSK with both bat and ball, but more so with the bowl in this edition. Bravo has got 32 wickets in 18 games with best bowling figures of 4/42. He was awarded the purple cap in this season.</p>
<h4><strong>7. Mohit Sharma, IPL 7, 2014</strong></h4>

<p>Mohit Sharma likes to keep things simple, bowls a consistent line and waits for the batsmen commit mistakes. His steady line and length and surprise bouncers take the batsmen by surprise and often end up falling prey to this Haryana pacer. He was at his best all throughout the season to become the most successful bowler with 23 wickets in 16 games for the CSK.</p>
<h4><strong>8. Dwayne Bravo, IPL 8, 2015</strong></h4>

<p>Yet another IPL and the Carribean star again put his name on the Purple cup. 26 wickets at an average of 16 in just 17 games is a stat which would make any high-class bowler proud, let alone an all-rounder. An extremely clever customer in the middle and death overs, Bravo has been a vital cog in the Chennai bowling line-up over the years. Batsmen often struggle to pick his back of the hand stuff and his slow bouncers are sometimes too good even for the best. To go with his supernatural fielding efforts and his more than useful contributions with the bat, Dwayne Bravo is an ideal package and the kind of player which every skipper wishes for in a T20 game.</p>
<h4><strong>9. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, IPL 9:</strong></h4>

<p>Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar bagged 23 wickets in 17 matches to take the Purple Cap in the 9th edition of the IPL. He had a bowling average of 21.3 in the tournament and an economy of just 7.42 with the best of 4/29. He bowled the most dot balls in the tournament too, with as many as 156 dots to his name, the next being Mustafizur with 137 dots. Bhuvi formed a lethal pair with Mustafizur in the bowling department and was highly influential in Sunrisers claim to the tournament championship.</p>
