List of Pakistan players in the Caribbean Premier League

A few Pakistan cricketers have been picked up in the PSL draft.

The Caribbean Premier League is a celebrated cricket tournament in the West Indies. The T20 league commenced in 2013 and has grown in stature ever since. The event has gained also gained in popularity among the players as the number of cricketers showing their aspirations to participate in the much-awaited league has escalated. The draft for the upcoming edition of the CPL was staged in London on Thursday was staged in London.

Lendl Simmons and Martin Guptill fetched the highest bids in the event. While Simmons went to the St Lucia Stars for US$ 160,000, while was bagged by the Barbados Tridents for the same amount. Kieron Pollard was the biggest transfer in the event when he was picked by the St Lucia Stars after being released by the Barbados Tridents, a franchise owned by Indian businessman Vijay Mallya.

A well-built Pakistan contingent

Pakistan has been a major contributor in the T20 tournament. Among 227 registered players in the draft, 53 were from Pakistan. However, eight of them eventually found a berth in their respective franchises. Sohail Tanvir, the left-arm pacer, was the highest grosser as he was retained by the Guyana Amazon Warriors for a whopping US$ 160,000.

The Warriors also managed to bag Shoaib Malik, the Sialkot-born Pakistan all-rounder for US$ 130,000. Shahid Afridi celebrated his 38th birthday on Thursday and his joy multiplied when he was bagged by the Jamaica Tallawahs for US$ 130,000. Imad Wasim, the captain of the Karachi Kings, has also received a lucrative deal of US$ 110,000 by the Tallawahs.

The Pakistan bowling contingent in the event also looks strong. Wahab Riaz and Junaid Khan, the fast-bowlers, went to the Barbados Tridents for US$ 40,000 and US$ 30,000 respectively. Rumman Raees and leg-spin prodigy Shadab Khan went to the St Lucia Stars and the Trinbago Knight Riders respectively.
