Looking back at the England tour, what did India get?
4. Hardik Pandya:
When the all-rounder was first brought into the side, he came in with a reputation of being a dasher with the bat and with some expertise in fast bowling. Out of those chances, he had failed to make an impact and turned up with just a few noticeable performances. Eventually, he was dropped from the squad but he went back to domestic cricket and worked hard on his game.
He was a part of the India A side and with some good performances, he made his way back into the national squad. It was evident that he had added a few yards to his pace and a bit more maturity to his batting. In the first ODI at Pune, he had figures of 46/2 and backed that up with mature innings of unbeaten 40 runs that brought the side past the line.
In the last ODI at Kolkata, he again did well with the ball when he picked up 3 wickets for 49 runs. With the bat as well, he contributed with 56 runs off 43 balls and shared a lovely century partnership. Although India lost that match, yet it gave them a hint of a fast bowling all-rounder coming up the ranks, something they have been missing in the squad for so long.
