‘Lots of love to you’ – Virat Kohli pens heartfelt message for ‘brother’ AB de Villiers on birthday
AB de Villiers turned 38 on Thursday (February 17) and birthday greetings are pouring in from different corners.
One of the finest cricketers, if not the finest, to have graced the game of cricket, AB de Villiers turned 38 on Thursday (February 17) and birthday greetings are pouring in from different corners. As De Villiers is known to share a great camaraderie with former Virat Kohli, a post from the former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain was on the cards.
On expected lines, Kohli took to his Instagram and extended wishes for his former teammate. Sharing a candid picture with the Proteas legend, Kohli wrote: “Happy birthday biscuit, lots of love to you always my brother.” The snap went viral in no time as fans joined the bandwagon of wishing the South African talisman.
It must be noted that Kohli and De Villiers shared the RCB dressing room from 2011 to the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). While RCB couldn’t get a single IPL title in this span, the duo entertained the fans thoroughly with their high-class batting. The combination of Kohli’s traditional shots and AB’s scoops and ramps was a delight to watch.
RCB won’t have AB de Villiers’ services in IPL 2022
However, the duo won’t be seen joining forces again as De Villiers announced retirement from all forms of cricket last year. Hence, for the first time in a decade, RCB won’t have De Villiers’ services. As far as Kohli is concerned, he has stepped down as the captain of the franchise but will continue to serve the team as a batter.
Meanwhile, De Villiers was nothing but a nightmare for bowlers during his playing days. Be it playing quick-fire knocks or staying at the crease for long, De Villiers embraced all challenges across formats with sheer brilliance. He even looked in fine touch in the fag end on his career. Hence, De Villiers took the cricket fraternity by shock by announcing his international announcement last year.
