'Loved how their captain didn't celebrate before actually winning the final' - Jaydev Unadkat takes an indirect dig at Mushfiqur Rahim
Soon after the final came to close, Jaydev Unadkat took to his official Twitter handle to congratulate the young Bangladeshi team for a historic win.
The young colts of Bangladesh national cricket team scripted history as they beat the defending champions and four-time World Cup champions by three wickets (DLS method) to win their maiden U19 World Cup. The players were emotional and were pumped up after the final. The ‘Tiger Cubs’ fought really well and even with such a low total, they made it quite tough for India.
Opener Parvez Hossain Emon and Akbar Ali helped Bangladesh overcome the 170-run target with 23 balls to spare. Parvez Hossain Emon top-scored for Bangladesh with a 79-ball-47. Bangladesh skipper Akbar Ali was named the player of the match for his scintillating performance under pressure. When the team lost seven wickets, the skipper held his nerves and scored an unbeaten 43 to help his team to get past the finishing line.
Earlier, India’s batsmen failed to turn up the heat as they were skittled out for a modest 177. As usual, Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal carried his rich vein of form as he top-scored for India with 88. He was named the player of the series. Barring him, no other batsman managed to put up a fight. India lost their last seven wickets for only 21 runs and were all out for 177 from 156/3.
Jaydev Unadkat takes a sly dig at Mushfiqur Rahim
Soon after the final came to close, Jaydev Unadkat took to his official Twitter handle to congratulate the Bangladeshi U19 team for a historic win over India. However, besides praising the young side, the fast bowler couldn’t stop taking a jibe at senior Bangladesh player, Mushfiqur Rahim.
Taking a trip down the memory lane, Bangladesh batsman Mushfiqur Rahim performed a pre-mature celebration against India in the 2016 World T20 semi-final which put the team on the back foot as they lost by one run. Jaydev Unadkat also heaped praise on Bangladesh U19 skipper Akbar Ali for showing maturity beyond years at the match.
“Well done Bangladesh for winning the U-19 World Cup! Read about how they worked to build this team since the last 2 years.. good for their future and for the game in whole! Also loved how their captain did not celebrate before actually winning the match.. learning from seniors,” tweeted Unadkat.
