Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT) will lock horns in Match 57 of the Indian Premier League 2022 at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Super Giants are at the pole position in the points table with eight wins in 11 appearances. On the other hand, the Titans have the same wins but are lagging behind in the net run rate and mark their presence in the second position.
In their last league match, the Super Giants were terrific with their performances to secure a dominating 75-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). They posted a score of 176 on the board, with contributions of 50 and 41 from Quinton de Kock and Deepak Hooda respectively. Then Avesh Khan and Jason Holder picked up three wickets each to dismiss the opposition.
LSG have been impressive with their all-round performance. Almost all of the players in the batting unit are contributing to the team. On the other hand, the fast bowlers have picked wickets in the crunch moments, which has sealed the games for the team.
Titans were average with their bowling performance to concede a score of 177 against Mumbai Indians (MI), with Rashid Khan picking two wickets. Although the openers Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha scored half-centuries, other batters failed to deliver in the last few overs and the team fell short by five runs.
With two losses on the trot, GT requires a strong performance as a unit. The bowlers have not responded well to the challenge of the opposition and have been lacking the potency like their initial matches. On the other hand, the failure of the middle-order has hurt their chances of winning the games as well.
Pitch and conditions
The MCA Stadium in Pune has been a high-scoring venue this season, with totals of over 160 being posted in a consistent manner. The teams batting first have won the last five games at the venue, and the same can be expected in this fixture as well. In the last game, the seamers took the bulk of the wickets and can prove to be a lethal weapon.
Playing combinations for LSG vs GT
Lucknow Super Giants
LSG have found balanced performances from all their players, and are not expected to tinker with the winning combination. In the last game, Avesh Khan came into the XI and picked up three wickets. The Aussie batter Marcus Stoinis finally delivered with a quickfire innings and Holder contributed in both departments. Although Ayush Badoni has been average, he is likely to retain his place.
Probable XI: Quinton de Kock (wk), KL Rahul (c), Deepak Hooda, Marcus Stoinis, Krunal Pandya, Ayush Badoni, Jason Holder, Dushmantha Chameera, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan
Gujarat Titans
GT are certainly playing with their best combination, but after losing a couple of matches they can opt to make a change in their playing XI. The middle-order batter Abhinav Manohar might replace Sai Sudharsan due to his fine knocks in the first half of the tournament. On the bowling front, most of them have done well but will look to improve their performances.
Probable XI: Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya (c), Sai Sudharsan/Abhinav Manohar, David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Pradeep Sangwan, Lockie Ferguson, Alzarri Joseph, Mohammed Shami
