Lucky, my name is Lungi: Proteas seamer Lungi Ngidi in response to the popular Bollywood track
Following Ngidi’s vicious display with the ball against India, Tweeple couldn’t refrain as Bollywood number ‘Lungi Dance’ became the trending tweet
South African pacer Lungi Ngidi, who earned his Test debut in the deciding second Test at Centurion earned a reputation for his ferocious bowling. A revelation in the Proteas squad, the tall and robust seamer single-handedly restricted India’s hope as he triumphed with 7 wickets on debut. Following his heroics, the 21-year-old bagged a lucrative deal with the Chennai Super Kings in the cash-rich IPL. The youngster was snapped up by the returning franchise at last month’s IPL Auction for his base price of Rs 50 lakh.
And after Ngidi’s vicious display with the ball against India, Tweeple couldn’t refrain as Bollywood number ‘Lungi Dance’ became the trending tweet. And it has resurfaced once again. This time from the man himself.
Replying to CSK’s welcome Tweet for the bowler, the South African looked upbeat at the opportunity and also stated that he’d listened to ‘Lungi Dance’ and seemed to have loved it. He wrote, “Very excited for what is coming ahead of all glory to god. Just listened to the #LungiDance song loving it already.” When quizzed about the same, the seamer had said, “I guess I’m just lucky that my name is Lungi.”

Ngidi fails to make any difference
The fast bowler is currently a part of the South African setup for the six-match ODI series against India. The addition of Ngidi in the third ODI, however, failed to make any difference as India cruised to victory. Ngidi, who run terror down the Indian batsman in the Test series proved futile as he returned without a single wicket.
With yesterday’s loss at Cape Town, the hosts will be keen to get a breakthrough to prevent losing the series. The Proteas have been absolutely annihilated after failing to restrict the visitors both with the bat and willow. The absence of marquee batsman AB De Villiers and skipper Faf Du Plessis has only magnified the void.
