Magnetic Fielders; the best catchers in the IPL: IPL is not only about hitting each ball over the bowlers head for a huge six but also about the finest catches taken just inches inside the boundary line. It has always been said that ‘catches win matches’ and it has been proved numerous times on the field that catches really do make your team win. A single catch can turn around the situation of the game. A team might be drifting apart from the victory but a single athletic catch can change the outcome of the game. It boosts the confidence of other players on the field and these catches show the determination of the players toward the game. Here is a list of Magnetic Fielders; the best catchers in the IPL. 1. Suresh Raina: Suresh Raina CSK. He has also played each and every match of IPL for CSK and has taken 68 catches in all. Be it a low-dropping catch or a sitter, he does not find any difficulty to catch them with ease. He has great reflexes and doesn’t miss on the easy ones either. Raina is indeed one of the super fielders in the IPL. 2. Kieron Pollard: Kieron Pollard MI. ABD has taken 52 catches in the 8 seasons of IPL and surely he is the super hero of cricket. 4. Being a fantastic fielder he never upsets the fans by dropping the catches. The scenario after the catch is awaited by many – his dance moves! Bravo never fails to express himself on the field. He tries his best to keep the Caribbean mood in the IPL and enjoys every bit of it. His celebrations are very animated and jubilant. 5. Faf du Plessis: Faf du Plessis CSK. He can run forward, backwards, towards the right or left and runs that at cheetah’s speed and we know him to go for it no matter how difficult or impossible it looks to us. Faf has taken some stunning catches in the history of IPL and never fails to surprise the viewers by making it look so easily. Be it one handed catches, diving forward or to his left he just throws his body in to grab it. His filed positions seem to be very important during the death overs and skipper Dhoni often places him to guard the boundaries. 6. Dinesh Karthik: Dinesh Karthik RCB. This season of the IPL has shown an improved side of Dinesh Karthik behind the stumps. He has taken some fierce catches to dismiss many batsmen who were on slaughter. Those big hands are not all that one needs, the wicket-keepers also have to anticipate and dive all around to grab the ball all the time. 7. MS Dhoni: MS Dhoni CSK. Though MS Dhoni is 33 years old, he doesn’t stay back from diving and catching the balls out of his reach. He also makes sure that he doesn’t miss a stumping chance if the batsman steps forward and misses the contact with the bat. Dhoni holds his temperament under difficult situations and makes tough catches look easy. 8. Virat Kohli: Virat Kohli RCB. Leading the Royal Challengers’ Bangalore in the IPL, he is equally aggressive with his fielding as much as with his attitude. Kohli always keeps himself busy while on the field. At the start of the game, he guards the circle, sealing the gaps and patrols the fence towards the end. He certainly is one of the safest pair of hands that we have in Indian cricket at the moment and right at the top in world cricket. 9. Ravindra Jadeja: Ravindra Jadeja CSK. His anticipation and dives give him that edge over others to get to the ball faster than most. We have rarely seen Ravindra Jadeja drop a catch and if it is in his zone, the ball certainly gets caught in his magnetic grip. No wonder people love to call him ‘Sir Jadeja’. 10. He is an asset for the team and boosts the morale of the team as a whole. With great muscles and lean body he grips the ball perfectly and catches the ball seconds before it passes him.
