Marcus Stoinis hits six sixes in an over playing for NPS in Brisbane
Marcus Stoinis hits six sixes in an over playing for NPS in Brisbane: Marcus Stoinis achieved a rare feat in Australian domestic cricket today as the National Performance Squad (NPS) all-rounder hit six sixes in an over bowled by Brendan Smith of the National Indigenous Squad (NIS) in a 50-over game in Brisbane at the Allan Border Field.
Smith who is the captain of the New South Wales U-17 team was up bowling his part-time medium pace in the 37th over of the game, when Stoinis decided to kick it out and plunder six after six stopping only after depositing all the legitimate deliveries in the over for sixes. The over costed NIS- 37 runs as the first ball of the over was a wide ball and all after it went for 6s. Though there is a disappointing part to the achievement, his record would not make it to the books as it was a non-sanctioned practice game between the two teams.
NPS was in a tough situation with the scoreboard reading 165-5 at the end of 36 overs. The 37th got them another 37 runs and Marcus Stoinis then hit a crucial hundred (121 off 73 balls) and took his team to a score of 296-9 in 50 overs, which they successfully defended as NIS could only get 254 runs for 8 wickets in their quota of overs.
The over went like:
35.1 B Smith to Marcus Stoinis – 1wd
35.1 B Smith to Marcus Stoinis – 6runs
35.2 B Smith to Marcus Stoinis – 6runs
35.3 B Smith to Marcus Stoinis – 6runs
35.4 B Smith to Marcus Stoinis – 6runs
35.5 B Smith to Marcus Stoinis – 6runs
35.6 B Smith to Marcus Stoinis – 6runs
National Performance Squad was 165-5 at the start of the over and by the time 6th delivery was bowled they had 202 runs on the board.
