Mark Butcher knows why Ravi Ashwin is enjoying Bangladesh v England Test
Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is enjoying his happy stay at home after an excellent Test series. The number one ranked off-spinner in Tests has been rested from the ODIs against New Zealand. India are scheduled to play England for a 5-Test match series next month. No wonder why the team management is keen on resting their main man. Ashwin is still not away from cricket though. He is enjoying the close contest between England and Bangladesh.
The first Test between England and Bangladesh kicked off today. Ravichandran Ashwin took to Twitter to express how much he is enjoying watching the Test. However, former England batsman Mark Butcher found different reasons as to why the Indian offie was having a good time watching it. In a witty conversation between the two, Ravi Ashwin did not give anything away though. Butcher, on the other hand, was sure he knew exactly what the off-spinner was thinking.
The first session of the match saw 3 wickets fall down. The ball started spinning in the first session of the play and English batsmen were right on the backfoot. Ashwin was quick to tweet, “Haven’t seen a more exciting first over after lunch in Test Cricket.#BANvENG.” The England batsmen were found wanting against the spin of rookie Mehedi Hasan. Mark Butcher gave a fitting reply to Ashwin. The former batsman said that he knew exactly why Ashwin is enjoying the game.
The Englishman hinted at the fact that the struggle of English batsman against spin is a fascinating prospect for Ravichandran Ashwin. He tweeted, “@ashwinravi99 @AllOutCricket I know why you’re excited..!”

A very modest Ashwin tweeted back saying he did not understand what Butcher hinted at. He further added that the off-spinner, Mehedi Hasan, has been quite impressive. He wrote, “@markbutcher72 Don’t know what you mean.Jokes apart this offie is good, Mehdi Hasan.”
Butcher remained as composed as he was. He said that the things would unfold in the new year. The Test match series is scheduled to span across the new year. “@ashwinravi99 you would know sir! see you in the new year,” was his tweet.
Ashwin continued to tweet about the game thereafter. He loved the unannounced battle between Moeen Ali and umpire Kumar Dharamsena. Dharamsena ruled Moeen Ali out on two successive deliveries but the reviews saved Ali on both occasions.
England and India are bound to be engaged in a high action series starting next month. For India to have an upper hand in the series, it will be Ravichandran Ashwin holding the aces for India.
