Marsh Cup 2022: Hilton Cartwright takes one-handed blinder in final to send back Moises Henriques
Cartwright caught the ball just inches short of the boundary as Henriques’ knock came to an end.
Hilton Cartwright was involved in a superb piece of athleticism during the Marsh Cup clash between Western Australia and New South Wales. Off the first ball of the 45th over of the New South Wales innings, Moises Henriques came down the track and smashed D’Arcy Short down the ground.
Henriques seemed to have struck the ball well, but Cartwright stunned not only Henriques but also everyone who witnessed his gravity-defying leap. Cartwright flung himself to his left and took a one-handed blinder.
Cartwright caught the ball just inches short of the boundary as Henriques’ knock came to an end. The official Twitter handle of Cricket Australia wondered whether Cartwright had taken the catch of the cricketing summer. “Catch of the summer?! Hilton goes horizontal,” tweeted Cricket Australia.

Western Australia beat New South Wales by 18 runs in the final of the Marsh Cup to win the title
In the summit clash of the 2022 Marsh Cup, Western Australia emerged as the winners, beating the New South Wales side by 18 runs. Batting first, the Western Australia side posted a total of 225/9 on the board, with Jhye Richardson top-scoring with a 64-ball 44.
Daniel Sams and Adam Zampa scalped three wickets each for the New South Wales side. In reply, New South Wales kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were bowled out for a total of 207. Moises Henriques and Daniel Sams scored 43 and 42 respectively.
Andrew Tye produced a superb performance with the ball and scalped four wickets for his side. Aaron Hardie also chipped in with a three-wicket haul as well. Right-arm pacer Tye won the Player of the Match award for his four-wicket haul that allowed his side to win the Marsh Cup. Also, Matt Renshaw won the Player of the Series award for scoring 377 runs in the competition.
