Martin Guptill calls Yuzvendra Chahal 'G*ndu' after the 2nd T20I
The incident took place soon after the end of the match when Chahal was set to host 'Chahal TV'.
India and New Zealand locked horns in the second T20I of the five-match series on Sunday. The visitors continued their good form to thump the Kiwis by seven wickets on a slow Auckland pitch and went 2-0 up in the series. After the high scoring opening game, this encounter turned out to be a damp squib in comparison. However, the most entertaining moment of the match came after it was ended with Martin Guptill at the centre stage of it.
Shivam Dube slammed a six to finish the game after which both the teams came out for customary handshakes. Soon after, Yuzvendra Chahal brought his mic out to host the ‘Chahal TV’ which has become more of a tradition now as he interviews two of his teammates after every match.
It is a light-hearted show and just when he came out, Chahal came across the New Zealand opener Martin Guptill who was having a chat with Rohit Sharma. When the Indian leggie went up to him to have a friendly chat, Guptill hilariously called him G*ndu which left the Rohit in splits who heard it clearly. The camaraderie between the players from both countries is very good and it once again showed up with this funny incident.
Here’s the video:
Martin Guptill scored 33 with the bat but New Zealand went down meekly
As far as the match is concerned, New Zealand could only post 132 runs for the loss of five wickets after 20 overs. Only Martin Guptill (33) and Tim Seifert (32) managed to score runs at a brisk pace and looked comfortable in the middle. None of the other batsmen could get hold of the slow pitch as India strangled them with some smart bowling.
In the chase, India also lost their top batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma inside the powerplay overs. But KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer first resurrected the innings and displayed their class playing some extravagant strokes. Eventually, the visitors chased down the target in the 18th over itself with Rahul remaining unbeaten on 57. Iyer got out with the victory in sight after scoring 44 runs.
