There is a lot of talk about Virat Kohli’s aggressive personality and how he doesn’t hesitate from giving it back if provoked. Many cricket experts have different thoughts about the aggression he shows on the field and another Indian player who was similar to him in the previous era was Sourav Ganguly. The Indian team looked completely different under his leadership and also scaled different heights in the first decade of the 21st century.

Former India cricket Ajit Agarkar reckons the aggression helped Ganguly during his playing days. Both of them played together for a decent period of time and Agarkar is of the opinion that every player has his own personality.

“Sourav was aggressive. He was one of the most outspoken people I have seen. Sourav’s personality was different, Virat has hiw own, MS Dhoni has his own. Whatever helps your game, you try to do that, whether as a captain or a player.

“Maybe being aggressive and vocal helped Sourav on the field. It is probably the case with Virat as well. That’s what helps his game. As long as no line is crossed, I don’t see any problem with it,” Agarkar said while speaking to Times of India.

Both are great captains, says Agarkar on Kohli and Ganguly

Moreover, Ajit Agarkar also felt that one should not compare Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly as both are brilliant players and leaders. He also noted that both the cricketers played in different eras and cricket has evolved a lot during this period. “And why compare? Both (Sourav and Virat) played in different eras. Both did well for India. Both are great captains. Both are terrific players,” Agarkar further added.

Ajit Agarkar also felt that India will win the five-match series against England. However, he pointed out that even though England are missing their key players, the visitors will have to play well to register their first series win in England since 2007.

“Ahead of the series, I thought India would be favourites. Because England are missing some of their key players. Ben Stokes, with his all-round abilities, is one of their bigger misses. India still have to play well. If they play the way, they did at Lord’s, India should win the series,” the former India cricketer said.
