Mehedi Hasan optimistic of his participation in the CPL later this month
Apart from Mehedi, Shakib Al Hasan will also feature in this season of CPL.
The fifth edition of Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is all set to kick off on August 1. That is where the latest Bangladesh sensation, Mehedi Hasan Miraz, will play his first ever franchise based T20 tournament apart from Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Mehedi made his international debut last year in October against England.
He has signed a contract with Trinbago Knight Riders, the franchise in Port of Spain. Interestingly, the team is owned by Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla and Joy Mehta. He has confirmed that he will be flying to the Caribbean in the last week of July to join his new team.
Confident of receiving NOC from BCB
The off-spinner seemed confident of receiving the NOC from Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for his participation in the CPL. “CPL will start from August 1. I have informed BCB CEO and hope to find NOC soon,” Miraz said according to bdcrictime.
“I’ve also told Akram Khan and head coach Chandika Hathurusingha. They said I could join CPL after the conditioning camp. Everything would be assured after getting NOC. Hope I could go at the ending phase of the month,” he added.
Trinbago Knight Riders have signed the 19-year-old as a replacement for Australia’s left-arm chinaman Brad Hogg for this edition of the tournament. The team will play their first game of the season on 4th of August against Saint Lucia.
The stint with Trinbago Knight Riders would be really helpful for the youngster. His quality off-spin bowling would be crucial as the pitches in West Indies are on the slower side more often than not.
Apart from Mehedi, Shakib Al Hasan will also feature in this season of CPL. He will play for Jamaica Tallawahs. Both the players will look to make a mark for their respective teams.
