Melbourne Renegades and Perth Scorchers lock horns on as they contest Match no. 4 of the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2023-24 on Sunday day, December 10 at the Simonds Stadium in Geelong. The reverse fixture between the two sides will take place in Match no. 15 on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at the Perth Stadium in Perth.
Talking about the form, the Renegades have had a mixed start to the twelfth edition of the BBL. They have played six matches so far and won three and lost three. They occupy the fourth position in the table with six points and a net run rate of -0.240. Melbourne began their season in some style with three victories in the first three encounters against Brisbane Heat (twice) and Sydney Thunder. But Aaron Finch and his side have now lost their last three consecutive games to Sydney Sixers (twice) and the Hobart Hurricanes.
On the other hand, the most successful team of the BBL, the Scorchers have yet again started their campaign with a bang. They have played five games so far with four wins and just one loss. Perth are the table topper with eight points and an NRR of +1.233. They won their opening match with the Sixers before facing a defeat at the hands of the Hurricanes. Though, they returned to winning ways with three victories on the trot against Melbourne Stars (twice) and the Strikers.
Speaking about Head-to-Head affairs, it’s been sheer domination by the Scorchers in the previous eleven editions. Both sides have met each other in 20 games, with Melbourne winning just three and Perth 16 and Other game ended with no result.

Veteran left-handed batter Shaun Marsh leads the batting chart with 544 runs to his name in these fixtures followed by Finch (481) and Michael Klinger (332). In terms of wickets, which is dominated by the pace bowlers, Kane Richardson is at the top with 19 scalps followed by Andrew Tye (17) and Jason Behrendorff (16).

Aaron Hardie and Josh Inglis were the stars of the show for Perth, smashing 57 and 64 runs respectively to propel them to a respectable total of 162/10 in 19.4 overs.
In reply, the Renegades' chase started brightly with Shaun Marsh anchoring the innings with a solid 59. Joe Clarke and Quinton de Kock contributed 32 and 23 runs respectively, but unfortunately, their efforts fell just short, leaving the Renegades 13 runs adrift at the end.
